a brief history

Massage is considered to be one of the oldest treatments used by man. There exists Chinese documentation dating back 3,000 years recording its use. Many ancient cultures used various forms of massage for ailments. Hippocrates wrote papers describing the use of massage for joint and circulatory problems. Today, massage is accepted as having proven benefits for many conditions.

why should you have a massage?

Massage aids in replenishing nutrients and oxygen to cells and tissues while helping to remove waste and reduce stress.

Managing stress with massage is known to increase energy flow and reduce stress related disorders such as depression, anxiety, muscular pain, chronic aches, headaches and insomnia.

Massage relaxes our body and allows for easier movement.

Massage relaxes the mind and quiets the nervous system, which leads to improved emotional and mental health.

are there different types of massage?

We are certified in Swedish, Sports, Neuromuscular, and Craniosacral massage therapies.

Swedish massage relaxes the muscles and gently eases aches and pains.

Sports massage is used both pre-event and post-event; and to expedite rehabilitation after injury.

Neuromuscular massage utilizes specific techniques for the purpose of relieving pain, normalizing muscle tone and achieving balance in the entire body.

A combination of the above therapies may be used during a session to obtain the desired results.

If currently under the supervision of a medical doctor, a medical release may be required prior to therapy.

what to expect during a massage session?

The client will be required to fill out a confidential health information sheet. Most massage techniques are normally performed with the client unclothed, however, you decide according to your comfort zone what you prefer to wear. The therapist leaves the room while you disrobe, situate yourself on the table and cover yourself with the sheet and blanket provided. You are properly draped or covered throughout the entire session. Only the area being worked on is exposed. A lotion is applied to the skin as work is performed.

Essential Oils (Aromatherapy) - additional $5.00 charge per session
